keyboard

Post by ArisenShine »

a question, not exactly about this site, but related abit....

Has anyone else worn off all the letters on your keyboard?
I can only see 7 of them, the rest are gone, lol.

My question is..what would be the best way to print them back on.
I tried magic marker but it wore off fast.

Any ideas?

I don't know - but if all else fails, you can get a keyboard real cheap...... I got a black one when I ordered my dell - looks real sharp, but when I'm typing in the dark I sometimes have trouble with the CTRL+C/Ctrol+V......

Do you need a USB keyboard (small rectangle connector) or an older keyboard (small round connector)? I have a couple of the older ones just laying around my garage that my wife would like to see me clean out. :D

BJ,
Wow..how generous of you.
Thank you, but I really don't need a new keyboard...it works fine. Just need to re-write the letters on the keys.

I'm thinking maybe some black nailpolish might work.

My acrylic paints wouldn't adhere to the plastic for very long.

Thanks again...SO kind of you, brother! Consider yourself kissed on the cheek.

OK, I guess the garage will not be cleaned for a little while longer. Don't tell my wife. hahaha From past experience, a permanent marker like a sharpie works pretty well. I think the nail polish would not stick too well to the smooth plastic without being scratched off.

Well, I did it.

I unplugged it and cleaned it all, then used black acrylic paint to paint in the letters with a very small detail brush.

Then I topped them with a coat of varnish...a type used to paint on glass, so that should stay put for awhile.

While I was at it, I turned the keyboard upside down and worked at it with a knife to get about 1/8th of a cup of crumbs that had accumulated under the keys.

It seems that SOMEONE's been eating at the computer. lol

hahaha the $1-$2 can of air you can buy at wal-mart is pretty good for cleaning out keyboard munchies. Also, you can use a vacuum cleaner hose either on suction or blowing as well. Amazing what comes out from under those keys.
