Colors and making things BIG

How do you make the words change colors?
I clicked on the color, but nothing happened.
How do you make font big?
I clicked on HUGE and nothing happened.

Highlight what you want to change before clicking on the color or the size, etc, and tags will appear kinda like this:
[ color=blue]hello[/ color] (just without the spaces)
Then after you are done with your post, that part will be changed, and the tags will disappear, like this:
hello
