Shoemaker

Does anyone have an idea in regards to what a shoemaker symbolizes? The context of the dream consisted of me making a pair of shoes and someone remarking that it would be cheaper to make their own. I had watched a video on the process of making a shoe. I did not like the pair I had made or thought it was not good enough and tuck it underneath the bed with some other stuff. I wanted to shoe the man how I had a made a shoe and show him that it was not an easy task.
