accused of being "high" in church

there were a group of ppl in church --i--included

soo...we are there singing and there was a certain key that the song hit on

i sung in the right key and others did not

the pastor then called a particualr person that wasnt among those who sung in the right key of the song

how be ever i began to get really excited

i clapped my hands and i began to praise GOD very happy

this girl next to me looked over with such disgust

she said to me in these words

you MUST be high?!

she accused me of being high (i assume on drugs) because i was excited

she was totally disgusted and told others around me that i came to church "high"

i looked at her and quietly said no

IRL i have never done drugs before i walked around ppl that smelled like marajuana it gave me a serious headache

i felt humiliated she kept saying that i was "high" and she eventually walked off from me

i then continued to praise GOD happily

I wonder if the "high" here might also refer to the higher road of praise, or moving up in levels of worship -or even being "high" on God. The other person's reaction is one of jealousy or envy -a very common source of division in the church. If you are very serious about pursuing the Lord other people will accuse you of thinking you are better than everyone else.

Interesting. I just read this in Song of Solomon where the bride goes out to pursue her Lover (a picture of Christ).

Song of Solomon 5:6 I opened for my beloved, but my beloved had turned away and withdrawn himself, and was gone! My soul went forth [to him] when he spoke, but it failed me [and now he was gone]! I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.

7The watchmen who go about the city found me. They struck me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took my veil and my mantle from me.

8I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if you find my beloved, that you tell him that I am sick from love [simply sick to be with him].

9What is your beloved more than another beloved, O you fairest among women [taunted the ladies]? What is your beloved more than another beloved, that you should give us such a charge?

Sometimes it's surprising where the opposition comes from. Keep singing! Keep pursuing! Jesus is the object of your worship, no one else comes before him.

WwwwOOW i have had so much trouble with this in my life
where women had pre-conceived notions of me being "stuckup" and unattainable as a friend or someone that they can talk to and this is all before saying a word... esp IN CHURCH

this interp has really hit home for me thank you

Some people when they see christians being full with joy in the Lord,an being filled by the Holy Spirit,they think you behave strangely,likea drunk,or "high".Remember it was the same when at the day of Pentecost when the apostels were file by the Holy Spirit.Some said they were drunk.
The sad thing is often some christians think that way.They may not be as close to the Lord maybe.

It's good to be overjoyed in the Lord.

You are going to find what you are looking for, God is taking you higher, some people will not understand the way you worship God. It's Holy, you can't have your inheritance without having to go though being misunderstood.

OH MY GOODNESS Will this very word you have spoken...

i dont know how to convey this

...but at this word i KNOW id be slain in the spirit

...its been like Abraham where GOD gave him a word

for YYEARS Abraham

had been waiting and waiting for it to come into fruition...

it APPEARED seemingly to Abraham that it wudnt

(and u kno the story)

and what you have spoken is...

okay ...have you ever traveled out of town by car

and you see these really really narrow vertical green posts signs

they are "markers" on they way to where youre going

the word you have written is such a thing to me as a spirtual marker

God has spoken a word concerning me going higher in HIM

HE also declared that it was going to be a lonely journey at times

if not the whole way and the thing that comes with lonliness

WUD BE ta ta da daaaaa MISUNDERSTOOD of course

and being misunderstood was my whole life

im not sure ... i was taken aback at how this woman just out of the blue

..her first response at my excitment of praise was irritation

she snarled at me and questioned my being TOO excited

she was curious and she summed it up as

i MUST be high ( like they say "on" something)

For some reason your story reminds me of this scripture:

2 Cor 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

Also, remember how people were always falsely accusing Jesus?

Mark 3:22-30
22 And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.”

and again:

John 8:48
48 The Jews answered him, “Aren’t we right in saying that you are a Samaritan and demon-possessed?”

also:

John 10:20
20 Many of them said, “He is demon-possessed and raving mad. Why listen to him?

REV 12:10

Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.

Someday this scripture from Revelation will be fulfilled! Hope this helps!
