Rabbit

Post by zadokpriest »

Does anyone know what a rabbit means in dream?

Had a weird dream that I will post in the other section. Just wanted to get some thoughts...

Thank you!

Ok, zadok, this might be a bit of a rabbit trail but I'll share anyway (sorry couldn't resist  ahem)

The word 'rabbit' literally translates as the 'young of the species', the adult of the species is a coney, which translates as 'long-eared rabbit'. Over time, the term 'rabbit' became used exclusively to refer to the species in general (rather than to solely describe the young) possibly because 'coney' came into use as vulgar slang (meaning "to deceive in order to win a woman's sexual favors").

The term 'coney' was not entirely dropped, it is believed, as it appears in the Bible. (see Prov 30:26)

Strong's Hebrew Definition for # 08227
08227 // Npv // shaphan // shaw-fawn' //
from 08226 ; TWOT - 2446a;
AV - Shaphan 30, coney 4; 34

n m
1) rock badger, coney, the hyrax

n pr m
2) secretary or scribe of king Josiah of Judah
3) father of Ahikam in the time of king Josiah of Judah
3a) improbably the same as 2
4) father of Elasah in the time of the prophet Jeremiah
4a) perhaps the same as 3
5) a scribe and father of Gemariah
5a) perhaps the same as 2
6) father of Jaazaniah in the time of Ezekiel
6a) perhaps the same as 2

Hope something here strikes a chord.

bless ya,
