Bird survives perceived house fire

I was in one of my parent's houses that they had owned. I do not know which house it was. Someone said mom/dad's house was on fire. I did not see fire or smell smoke. My sister's bird was in his cage. I took the bird, in his cage, out of the area which was perceived to be on fire. Then I let the bird out of the cage. He kind of stumbled when he jumped out but he was OK/alive.
